Fans of the programme saw host Maya Jama welcome a new selection of sexy singletons to the villa who are all in a bid to find love.

Viewers watched the first instalment of Love Island 2024 on ITV1 on Monday evening.

But today they’ll have to switch over to ITV2 because Sunak v Starmer: The ITV Debate will be on instead at 9pm.

The show continues on ITV2 for the rest of the week.

The new series certainly hasn’t disappointed so far.

Last night those watching at home were left lost for words when Towie legend Joey Essex was revealed as the first bombshell.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun before entering the villa, Joey admitted it was his idea to appear on the series, having grown close friends with the show’s creative director, Mike Spencer.

“When I think back to my first memories of being on TV Mike was always around and there to support us,” he said.

“It felt like the right time to give the Villa a shot, so I called Mike to ask him if I could apply and he said go for it!

“Mike’s a creative genius and has thought of a way to bring me into the mix and personally I think it’s the greatest stunt that Love Island has ever pulled. “

Joey, who shot to fame on the ITVBe programme in 2011, has appeared on various other dating shows over the years.

Some include Celebs Go Dating and Ex On The Beach.

It sounds like things are going to get steamy between the Islanders tonight.

The show has their first secret terrace snog of the series after they all lock lips in a racy game.

On launch night the Islanders were immediately ‘coupled up’.
