Aldi’s Galway stores trialling ‘first ever’ for company ‘improving shopping’
Aldi stores in Galway will be amongst the first to trial a new way of shopping at the German budget supermarket.
Aldi is moving with the times to trial new self-service checkouts at several of their Co Galway stores, along with stores in Co Dublin, Co Kildare, Co Cork, Co Limerick, Co Kerry, Co Cavan and Co Clare.
The trial rolls out June and into July with the new terminals being able to handle cash and cards, with card machines equipped with contactless payment. Aldi says they remain committed to traditional tills and the new terminals will operate alongside human cashiers.
