Celtic plan £10 million move for Liverpool player

The most important thing Celtic need to do this summer is find their next number one. Joe Hart had been the club’s number one for the past three years, since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, but he retired at the end of the 2023/24 season. The Hoops now need to replace the legendary English goalkeeper, who won seven trophies at Parkhead, not only proving his quality on the pitch but as an experience leader as well.

Unsurprisingly, Celtic have been linked with a long list of goalkeepers in recent times. One of them is Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool.

Kelleher’s future at Anfield is in doubt and there have been suggestions that he could consider leaving Liverpool this summer in search of a starting role somewhere else. For years, he has been the cover option to Alisson Becker and at 25 years of age, he needs to be playing regularly now.

Kelleher is a fantastic goalkeeper and would be a terrific signing for Celtic. But the Hoops would have a difficult time making a move happen.

Rumours have suggested that Liverpool have turned down transfer offers in the region of £15 million for the goalkeeper in the past. It is hard to see Celtic going anywhere near that figure.

The club’s current record is the £9 million transfer fee they shelled out in order to sign Odsonne Edouard. They might need to break that, if they want to bring in a top-class replacement for Hart. Will Kelleher prove to be that player? Time shall tell.
