Wicklow family ‘just want out’ as council house is ‘not fit for living in’
A woman who has been living with her husband and children in a council house in Bray for seven years, said she has been desperate to try and get long overdue repairs done as she struggles to deal with leaks, recurring mould and even a section of the roof of the house which is “in bits”.
Katie Byrne, who has six children, said while some of the issues have arisen within the last four years, others are a legacy of the previous tenant, such as the bathroom, which was designed for someone who needed disabled access and is now leaking badly. She said she has approached the Council multiple times but as yet, nothing has been done to improve conditions and many of her children are becoming ill.
