Galway teens ‘restore faith in humanity’ as hunt on to find and reward duo
The youth of today get a bad rap from most of the public but two Galway teens are doing their best to change that.
An incident in Oranmore restored one woman’s faith in humanity after she misplaced her handbag and could not find it anywhere the next day.
After running to the Supervalu in the hope of finding it, there was no happy ending as none of the staff had seen it and nothing had been dropped in to lost and found.

But, there was also a little newsagents nearby, so the woman decided to try there on the off chance that someone left it in. And would you guess, that’s exactly what happened. To make it even better, nothing was taken.
After asking the shop clerk if he knew the good samaritans, unfortunately, he didn’t but he did say they were two 15-16-year-old boys.
A post on Facebook said: “Faith in humanity. I was in orantown centre yesterday evening. This morning I couldn’t find my handbag ( thought it was in my car ) Went to the Supervalu, the staff were amazing but no trace of it. Was so worried. On the off-chance, I tried the little newsagents and yes it was handed in with everything undisturbed. Two young boys around 15/16 handed it in. The shop assistant does not know them so I couldn’t leave a little reward. But I’m so grateful. Well done young men! You don’t know how much your kindness has impacted someone today.”
The feeling of having your faith in humanity restored was echoed by many people in the comment section. One said: “Well done, raised well, with values,” while a second added: “I just love reading stories like this! Restores my faith in humanity, particularly the youth! I’m delighted that you got your handbag back!”
