Sarah Corbett-Lynch, the youngest daughter of Jason Corbett, started her Leaving Cert from a hospital bed on Wednesday morning while she is treated for a minor illness.

It was confirmed Sarah is sitting her Leaving Cert from hospital by her aunt via the My Brother Jason account on X: “For those that were asking, Sarah is getting to sit her first Leaving Cert exam from her hospital bed. She’s an absolute trooper.”

Mr Corbett was killed by Molly Martens and her father Thomas. The start of the Leaving Cert comes just a day before the Martens are scheduled to be released after serving three-and-a-half years in prison in North Carolina.

Sarah and her older brother Jack (19) were both in the house at the time of their father’s death.

In an update posted to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon, Ms Corbett-Lynch confirmed Sarah is feeling better and thanked staff at the Galway Clinic for their support.

“Thanks for all the well wishes for Sarah. She’s had loads of rest, fluids and antibiotics. The nursing staff and ENT doctor at Blackrock Health Galway are providing the best of care for her, while the incredible staff at Mungret CC went above and beyond to organise her exams at the hospital,” she said.

On Tuesday Sarah shared a photo of the view from her hospital bed and wrote: “View from hospital bed in Ireland be like.. leaving what leaving”.

Ms Corbett-Lynch wrote on X: “Ah Sarah we wish you a speedy recovery and hope you make it to your exams. North Carolina justice system has a lot to answer for. I can only imagine the stress of the Martens release is having on Sarah’s physical health, so much so she’s now in hospital.”
