‘Bathing Suit’, ‘Boxers’…: Jason Day Gets Ridiculed Among Golf Fans as His Memorial Fit Took Them by Surprise

Jason Day has done it again! You might be wondering what it’s about this time. Well, the answer is the same: his outfits. Whether it’s majors or other tournaments, Day never disappoints the golf world with his eye-catching attire, ever since he became the first pro to sign a deal with Malbon Golf.

It all started at the Masters this year in April when his outfits created mayhem in the golf world. His baggy pants and loud sweater became the talk of the town. So much so that he was asked to remove his sweater vest by the ANGC officials. At Valhalla too, he sported a fully green outfit in the final round which was regarded as a “cute LIV uniform.” Although he was not alone in the PGA Championship, the Spaniard Sergio Garcia also came under the radar for his rather colorful outfit.

Not just at majors, but Day wore baggy, crème-colored pants and a button-down, short-sleeved shirt with brown-and-white vertical stripes and a chest pocket at the Wells Fargo Championship too. This time, the 36-year-old golfer is grabbing attention even before the first round of the Memorial Tournament.

During a recent practice round at Muirfield Village Golf Club, he sported a black t-shirt with shorts. Interestingly, it’s not baggy pants or a monochromatic outfit that’s catching eyes this time, but his shorts. Claire Rogers shared a post on X featuring Jason Day and his outfit, humorously captioned, “Malbon got so sick of the complaints about Jason Day’s pants that they stopped having him wear them entirely.”

Malbon Golf is a brand that aims to bring the passion of clothing to the greens and let anyone who wears it express themselves freely. Brand’s mission is simple, “To inspire today’s youth to participate in the greatest game on Earth.” After this post went viral on social media, the community began playfully trolling the golfer.

What do fans have to say about Jason Day’s outfit?

In response to the caption, one fan commented, “So he came to the course in boxers?? lol,” highlighting how the attire is different from what he has worn so far. At the Augusta showdown in April, Day’s baggy pants received a lot of attention, and not in a good way. People referred to his baggy pants as “pantaloons.”

While some fans joked about the Australian golfer’s attire, one commented, “Sick practice round fit, tbh,” highlighting the comfort of his outfit. Another fan expressed similar thoughts, adding, “That’s a good fit.”

One fan sarcastically remarked, “Those shorts look like the boxers I wore when I was 12,” implying that the golfer’s shorts look childish, something the fan wore in their childhood, yet the golfer is wearing them at a $20 million tournament. Another fan added, “Is that a bathing suit?” highlighting the unusual print of the shorts, which, to this fan, almost resembles swimwear.

One fan made a hysterical yet sarcastic statement, commenting, “He lost his pants sponsor, so he’s not wearing any.” This remark highlights the style was very unusual as compared to the pants he has worn so far on the greens, thanks to his sponsorship deal with Malbon.

While many poked fun at Day’s choice of shorts, some remarked, “Nice boxers,” emphasizing the comfort they might provide. Not solely focused on comfort but also the versatility of the outfit, another fan commented, “Golf/swimwear/pajamas very versatile,” humorously noting how the outfit could serve multiple functions, whether on the golf course or by the swimming pool.

Drawing attention to Day’s shorts, this fan humorously remarked, “I thought he stole a tablecloth from the diner this morning on his way out after breakfast and wrapped it around his waist.” This emphasizes how the print on Day’s shorts resembles a cloth typically used to cover diner tables, and the fan further suggested that the golfer used it as pants before heading to the greens.
