Louisville announces home and home basketball series with Tennessee
The Louisville men’s basketball program has announced a home and home scheduling contract with Tennessee that will bring the Volunteers to the KFC Yum Center this season for a game on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The return game will be played in Knoxville, Tenn., at the Food City Center on December 16, 2025.
Tennessee is coming off of back-to-back trips to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament, most recently advancing to last season’s regional final where they fell to top-seeded Purdue.
First Team All-American Dalton Knecht is gone from that squad, but second-leading scorer and starting point guard Zakai Ziegler is back. A trio of top-tier transfers — Felix Okpara (Ohio State), Igor Milicic (Charlotte), Chaz Lanier (North Florida) — figure to have the Volunteers back in the preseason top 25.
Louisville is 12-8 all-time against UT, having last met in 2018. The Cardinals have been victorious in 12 of the last 14 meetings. Louisville is 5-5 at home, 5-1 on the road and 2-2 in neutral sites. In each of the past five outings, at least one of the teams has been ranked in the top 15.
The first real magical moment of the Rick Pitino era was a home win over Tennessee early in the season.
Here’s to history repeating itself.
