Aldi issues ‘do not drink’ warning over coffee products

Grocery giant Aldi has warned Irish customers not to drink one of the coffee products sold in its stores.

The food retailer has announced that it is recalling the Maisha Cold Brew Coffee Original and Lemon flavours.

Aldi has said that this is a precautionary measure because the product was stored incorrectly, which may make the beverage unsafe to consume.

In a statement, the food safety authority confirmed that the affected products were the Maisha Cold Brew Coffee Original and the Maisha Cold Brew Coffee Lemon Flavour in the 330ml packaging with all best-before dates.

The message read: ‘As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling the above batches of Maisha Cold Brew Coffee Original & Maisha Cold Brew Coffee Lemon Flavour as this product has been stored incorrectly, which could make it unsafe to consume.’

The statement also explained that the recall notice will be displayed at the point-of-sale in stores across the country.

The FSAI is calling on manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers, and Aldi retailers to remove the implicated batches immediately and display these recall notices at the sale points in all stores.

‘Consumers are advised not to drink the implicated batches,’ the statement read.

This comes as another product, popular with coffee lovers, was recalled from shelves in Dunnes Stores across the country due to a packaging issue.

The Irish retailer temporarily removed its own brand of soya milk from sale due to a packaging issue that was thought to have caused the milk to spoil, making it unsafe for consumption.

Soya Milk stored in the 1-litre cardboard carton with a best-before date of May 13, 2025, was recalled. The FSAI warned Dunnes shoppers to avoid drinking the beverage or adding it to coffee if it displayed the best-before date in question.

Consumers have been warned to avoid drinking the affected soya milk. Recall notices are displayed at the point of sale in Dunnes’ supermarkets nationwide.
