Local elections 2024 – Dublin City Council: Counting resumes after eight councillors elected

Green Party incumbent Michael Pidgeon was the last councillor elected before proceedings came to a close yesterday.

The current state of play for the 63 seat council puts Fine Gael in the lead with 3 seats, followed by Fianna Fáil with two seats, Labour with one seat and the Green Party with two seats.

Clontarf

Both Fianna Fáil’s Deirdre Heney and Fine Gael’s Naoise Ó Muirí were re-elected in the first count in Clontarf.

Donaghmede

Fianna Fáil candidate Tom Brabazon was re-elected on the first count for Donaghmede, where two candidates were eliminated across four counts before it was adjourned yesterday.

Green Party candidate Donnacha Geoghegan and Ciara McCormack have both been eliminated from the count.

Pembroke

Green Party councillor Hazel Chu, incumbent Dermot Lacey for Labour as well as Fine Gael councillors James Geoghegan and Emma Blain have been elected in Pembroke.

There is just one more seat remaining in Pembroke as it now enters the fifth count following the elimination of The Irish People candidate Conor P Rafferty, who had received 296 votes by the third count.

Cabra-Glasnevin

No candidates have been elected in Cabra-Glasnevin, with the second count getting underway this morning.

Independent candidate Martina Whyte was eliminated, while Green Party candidate Feljin Jose has topped the poll in the first count with 1869 votes.

North Inner City

No candidates have yet been elected in the North Inner City, where three counts were completed before counts were adjourned.

Fine Gael incumbent Ray McAdam is leading with 1190 votes ahead of the fourth count, which leaves him just 90 votes shy of the quota.

Fianna Fáil candidate Anne Marie Connolly, independent Anthony Shevlin and Sinn Féin candidate Declan Hallissey have been eliminated.

Kimmage-Rathmines

There has not yet been any candidate elected in Kimmage-Rathmines, which is a six seat constituency.

The count will begin the third count this morning with the redistribution of the votes received by incumbent Fianna Fáil councillor Deirdre Conroy vote, who has lost her seat.

South East Inner City

There is yet to be a candidate elected in the South East Inner City, which has entered the sixth count.

Independent Nick Delehanty, Labour candidate Eddie McGuiness, Sinn Féin candidate Ryan Mooney and four independent candidates have been eliminated.

There is still no candidate elected for the area, though Green Party councillor Claire Byrne remains in the lead with 1182 votes, just 30 shy of the quota of 1212.

South West Inner City

Green Party incumbent Michael Pidgeon was elected on the first count for the South West Inner City.

Voting was then adjourned until this morning, with Mr Pidgeon having been elected with 1594 votes and surpassing the quota of 1385 votes.

Artane-Whitehall

No candidate has been elected yet, with Sinn Féin candidate Josh O’Rourke eliminated after receiving 246 votes.

The local electoral area was the last to announce the results of the first count, doing so this morning.

Ballyfermot-Drimnagh

No candidates have yet been elected in Ballyfermot-Drimnagh. Two candidates have been eliminated.

Sinn Féin candidate for Europe Daithí Doolan is currently topping the poll and will likely retain his seat.

Ballymun-Finglas

No candidates have been elected and two were been eliminated before count three begins this morning.

Fianna Fáil incumbent Keith Connolly is currently leading, with 2043 votes.
