Bank of Guam continues title sponsorship of Guam’s national basketball team

Bank of Guam has confirmed its continued partnership with the Guam Basketball Confederation, as the title sponsor for the Bank of Guam Men’s National Basketball Team.

As part of the partnership, Bank of Guam will continue to invest in Team Guam and efforts to support sports development and success on both local and international stages, the bank said in a press release.

The partnership includes a total investment in basketball on all levels, including supporting leagues for youth, seniors and businesses, along with funding team uniforms, equipment, training opportunities, and community programs – ensuring Team Guam is prepared and has the tools to succeed.

“We have seen the impact that team sports, especially basketball, can make in our communities. This sponsorship signifies so much more than our support of Guam Basketball, it’s an investment in our youth and our People,” Bank of Guam President and Chief Executive Officer Joaquin P. L.G. Cook said in a statement.

Cook said Bank of Guam is honored to continue its partnership with the Guam Basketball Confederation and most of all, proud of Team Guam for continuing to represent the island at its best.

Guam Basketball Confederation Head Coach EJ Calvo, in a statement, thanks Bank of Guam for their continuous support over the years.

“Their sponsorship goes beyond being a sports fan. It serves as inspiration for our athletes as they proudly represent our island on the international stage. We truly appreciate Bank of Guam’s dedication to empowering our sports community, and we’re honored to have them by our side,” Calvo said.

Recognized as the best team in the Pacific, the Bank of Guam Men’s National Basketball Team continues to rise in the global rankings, currently holding the impressive position of No. 72 out of 160 teams in the world according to the latest International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rankings. The current rank reflects a climb of four points.

The sponsorship agreement includes exclusive naming rights for the Guam National Basketball Teams.

Additionally, the partnership extends to various community initiatives and events organized by the Guam Basketball Confederation, such as the National Basketball Training Center, youth basketball camps, Micronesia Coaching Clinic in cooperation with FIBA, and national games including matchups against Japan and China, the bank said.
