O’Hara and Duffy smash quota to retain seats after the first Ballina count

It’s been a long time coming, but the first count has been completed for the Ballina Local Electoral Area.

John O’Hara FG (2,374 votes) and Mark Duffy IND (2,325 votes) have both been re-elected to the County Council.

There are four seats remaining with O’Hara’s surplus now to be distributed.

Here are how the positions are faring for the final four spots as things stand:

Michael Loftus FF – 1,291 votes

Annie May Reape FF – 1,176 votes

Joe Faughnan IND – 1,121 votes

David Alexander FF – 994 votes

Jarlath Munnelly FG – 932 votes

As things stand, Fianna Fáil would take three of the four remaining seats.

FG’s Jarlath Munnelly will be hopeful of taking some votes from party colleague John O’Hara if he is to retain his seat.

The full list of results as they come to us are available on our website.
