Yarmouth racing tip: Dashing Donkey to justify favourite tag

A total of 14 runners will go to post for the 16:30 at Yarmouth on Wednesday, a 0-50 Class 6 contest over one mile and three yards on turf.

Flying Panther and Keen Interest have withdrawn from the race, leaving Dashing Donkey as the bookie’s favourite at around 11/4 as of Wednesday morning.

The marginal favourite finished seventh of eight at Brighton last time out, despite being favourite, as he failed to fire after showing promise in his previous outing.

He came mighty close to a maiden win on his last run at Yarmouth, only to be denied by the nose of Amerigo Vespucci, who also made the step up to race at Brighton and finished third.

Notably, Hollie Doyle gets the ride together and given her strong winning record at Yarmouth throughout the last five seasons, she may bring the best out of William Stone’s horse.

Keen Interest could have been a major player if not for withdrawal, so Split Elevens is priced as the next best, but that may not be the case.

He also turned in a below-par performance at Brighton last time out, yet that’s nothing new. He’s had 17 wins since last producing a win in 2023.

It’s a similar story for much of the field with the likes of Struck Gold, Haaf A Diamond, Provocateur and Primrose Maid, among others, looking out of sorts recently.

Tenyatta got off the mark at Wolverhampton in April and despite failing to back that up in subsequent runs at Brighton, she’ll drop down in trip and return to cheekpieces.

Darker and Dire World make up the remainder of the top five, and while they don’t stand out, their recent previous suggests they could be in the mix.

Suggested bet: Dashing Donkey to win the 16:30 at Yarmouth
