Kildare syndicate shocked to find out they won €500,000 lotto prize – ‘we thought we had won €2,000’
The winning ticket was purchased in Easons & Sons in Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare
A Kildare syndicate was “shocked” to discover that they had won €500,000, after they had initially thought they had won €2,000.
The syndicate from Kildare were thrilled to pick up their EuroMillions Plus top prize cheque worth €500,000.
They scooped the prize on Tuesday May 28 after purchasing their winning ticket at Eason’s & Sons in the Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare.
The syndicate manager was convinced that they had won €2,000 initially, but then got a welcome surprise on checking their numbers.
“I was checking our ticket the next day and first I thought we had three numbers only and then four. I was thinking to myself, that’s great we’ve won €2,000.
“And then I saw number 41 and was convinced I had to be seeing things. To go from thinking we had won €2,000, which I was delighted with, straight to €500,000. It’s not something that happens everyday. I immediately ran to tell the others and when I say no one believed me,” laughed the syndicate manager.
“They all thought I was lying. I had to let them check the ticket themselves. We’re all still in shock but we’re so happy to hand the ticket over and see our cheque.”
