Ireland go for European Championship gold again with Women’s 4x400m relay final tonight’s highlight

Good evening. We’ve reached the final day of an enormously successful European Championships for Team Ireland and hopefully they can go out on a high.

After winning yesterday’s heat, the team of Sophie Becker, Rhasidat Adeleke, Phil Healy and Sharlene Mawdsley are in the hunt for a medal in the women’s 4x400m final.

400m silver medallist Adeleke was rested for the heat but the Dubliner has been drafted into the quartet to replace Lauren Cadden, who is unlucky to miss out.

Next up, five Irish athletes – Brian Fay, Efrem Gidey, Peter Lynch, Cormac Dalton and Barry Keane – compete in the men’s 10,000m.

Then later tonight, Andrew Coscoran participates in the men’s 1500 final.

It’s live on RTÉ 2, (from 8pm) the RTÉ Player and the BBC Red Button but we’ll be taking you through all the action in Rome.
