Galway drivers fury as new road not laid a ‘wet week’ ripped up

Galway motorists have let their feelings be known after a recently laid stretch of road was ripped up again.

Council workers had recently finished relaying a stretch of the coast road much to the delight of motorists but it hasn’t lasted long.




A driver hoped to use the road yesterday when they encountered road workers ripping up a section of the recently laid surface.

While the individual realises that certain things don’t go to plan or may be delayed, he notes the section being worked on wasn’t “bad in the first place.”

One area he believes does need major work is from Oranmore train station to the bridge which he describes as being in “horrendous condition”

Taking to Facebook, the motorist said: “The coast road new section already ripped up!! It wasn’t done a wet week and they had a trench cut the new section of tar. Now they are ripping up a section up. I understand things don’t go to plan or schedule and may occur. But the road wasn’t bad in the first place.”
