Bandon’s biggest bar hits the market after rising costs forced doors closed

The biggest bar in Bandon is up for rent, months after its owners closed its doors due to rising costs. The Old Market at Market Street in the heart of the town had been a very popular local pub and restaurant for years before it shut earlier this year.

The pub survived Covid lockdowns, but rising costs and unsustainable expenses meant The Old Market became more and more difficult to run. The owners closed the bar in April.

The Old Market has long been regarded as one of the town’s most popular pubs, known for its food offering and live music events. Up until this year, the business had been owned by the Coleman family who took on The Old Market as a bar and bistro and successfully ran it for five years – securing its spot as one of Bandon’s most reputable establishments.

The restaurant and pub property is up for rent with local auctioneers Bowe Property as a turnkey licenced premises, ready for new owners to take over and revive the well-known business.

The two-storey property is available for immediate lease, comprising a fully equipped bar, kitchens and cold rooms, large public area incorporating bar, seating and dining facilities. Bowe Property says The Old Market comes to the market with “huge potential” and has invited proposals for the property.
