FIRST TEAM

Blake Edwards, St. Thomas Aquinas senior: Team captain was district and regional champion and led Raiders to state runner-up finish at state; finished 13-4 in singles and 12-3 in doubles; clinched final match win to send the team to state. Loyola University (Maryland) commit.

Daniel Naylor, American Heritage senior: The Emory commit and four-year team captain won the Class 2A individual district title; team MVP all four years was most proud of beating rival Pine Crest during the season; also plays pickleball.

Dennis Oliveira Jr., Stoneman Douglas junior: District champion finished the year at 9-3 No. 1 singles and 6-2 in doubles; qualified for the state tournament – lost in quarters in singles and the finals in doubles.

Quentin Gabler, Somerset Academy junior: Won districts and reached the Class 2A individual semifinals with an 11-3 record; teamed with Brandon Lee to win district and reach the state semifinals.

Sebastian Mendoza, Cypress Bay senior: The Babson College commit finished 14-1 in singles and 7-1 in doubles; was undefeated in regular-season play the last two seasons and helped the Lightning team reach the state tournament both years; called finishing state runner-up as team a “major achievement.”

Koray Abramson/Ashwin Chawla, Pine Crest freshman/junior: Won Class 1A overall state doubles championship, becoming just the third team in school history to do so.

Dennis Oliveira Jr./Danny Platovsky, Stoneman Douglas junior/junior: Reached state doubles final by winning three tiebreakers.

Michael Brunt, Cypress Bay: Led Lightning to an undefeated regular season and finished as Class 4A state runner-up, falling to Doral Academy 4-2. “I’m most proud of the success of the entire team. We had several younger players make significant progress from last year, not only becoming team members but also being highly competitive among themselves.”
