Conor McGregor’s UFC return plunged into further doubt as retirement feared
Conor McGregor’s UFC return has been plunged into further doubt – and there are fears that he might not be seen inside the Octagon again.
The Dubliner is scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29. However, there were fears for the bout after a press conference to promote it in Dublin was cancelled earlier this month.
But the bout appeared to be back on since and fears of it being cancelled were played down. However, McGregor has now dropped the clearest hint yet that he has suffered an injury ahead of his expected withdrawal from the event.

McGregor shared an old video on social media on Wednesday before deleting it. In the clip, he says: “I think the more resistance you train with, the less movement and the more injury. The less resistance you train with, the more movement and the less injury. A band balances itself. You might be going a little bit lighter, but the positions you wouldn’t be if everyone was tense. Everyone was trying to win every round.”

And UFC legend Chael Sonnen has said he expects McGregor to retire if he pulls out of the bout with Chandler.
“If Conor McGregor doesn’t show up for this, I’m here to let you know any idea you have that he’s still fighting or he’s still in the business or he wasn’t feeling good and they’re doing it another day, or he and Chandler are going to be somewhere down the road… I’m here to let you know now, if you’re told that by anybody, you have been given bad information,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.
“If McGregor does not show up on June 29 and fight Michael Chandler at 170lb, it is the exact same as announcing Conor McGregor’s retirement from the sport.”
