Motorists in Longford warned of traffic disruptions tomorrow | Shannonside.ie
Motorists in Longford are being warned to expect a number of traffic disruptions in the town today.
A number of events planned for Longford Town have led to local Gardaí enacting a number of traffic restrictions.
The first of the events planned in the town tomorrow is the centenary celebrations of Longford Town FC. A special meet and greet event with former LTFC and Man United players will take place in the Longford Arms Hotel; followed by a legends match at 3.30pm.
Those events will bring added traffic to the town and will see an increase in the amount of vehicles using the N5 to access the Longford Town FC home ground at Bishopgate.
Shortly after kick-off, a separate festival is taking place in the town centre. The first Longford Pride march due to begin at 4pm.
That parade will begin from Connolly Barracks and move down through Main Street, Dublin Street and Ballymahon Street before finishing at the Market Square.
Longford Gardaí are advising that road closures will remain in place over the course of the parade. However, those routes will reopen directly after the parade.
Finally, fans attending the Roscommon vs Cavan match in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park at 5pm, are being warned that ongoing road works on the Battery Road may cause issues for some attendees.
Two new free car parks have been opened adjacent to the GAA ground; close to McDonalds and the Axis Business Park and will cater for hundreds of extra vehicles.
Motorists are asked to drive with care and follow any and all Garda instructions and diversion signage.
