Two men quizzed after shots fired and arson attack carried out in west Dublin

Two men were arrested by gardai investigating a number of incidents in west Dublin this week including shots being fired.

One man has since been charged and is due before the courts later today, while a second man has been released without charge.

The incidents, which also include an arson attack, took place across several days this week.

“Gardaí investigating criminal incidents of arson and the discharge of a firearm in the Ronanstown and Clondalkin areas, between the 8th and 15th May 2024, have arrested two men,” a spokesperson said.

Both men who are aged in their 20s were held for questioning under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at garda stations in Dublin.

“One man has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning Saturday, 15th June 2024 at 10.30am,” the spokesperson added.

The second man has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
