Tsitsipas personal trainer unhappy with Stefanos’ work ethics leaves his camp – Tennis Tonic – News, Predictions, H2H, Live Scores, stats

Worrying signs are emerging for Stefanos Tsitsipas ahead of Wimbledon as his personal trainer, Christos Fiotakis, has abruptly ended their partnership. Fiotakis, an experienced gymnast, has voiced his dissatisfaction with Tsitsipas’ attitude and work ethic, questioning the Greek tennis star’s current mindset and commitment to winning a Grand Slam title.

Fiotakis expressed gratitude towards the former world number 3 for the opportunity to work together and wished Tsitsipas luck in his future endeavors. However, he also highlighted several areas where he felt things could have been better. “I hope that at some point he will understand that what I am telling him is correct and that he will climb to the first step of the podium,” wrote Fiotakis. He had hoped to accompany Tsitsipas to the Paris Olympics and bring home a gold medal but stated, “I am not satisfied with Stefanos’ work ethic.”

The two have known each other for years, but Fiotakis only became Tsitsipas’ full-time personal trainer seven months ago. His sudden departure has sparked curiosity among tennis fans. According to Greek media house SDNA, Fiotakis decided to “close the circle” because the goals and results he had set with Tsitsipas did not come to fruition.

Tsitsipas was recently knocked out of the 2024 French Open by the eventual winner, Carlos Alcaraz, in the quarterfinals. Despite this, Fiotakis expressed pride in seeing Tsitsipas back on his feet and competing at a high level post-injury. However, he cited issues beyond his control and mismatched team energy as reasons for his departure. “Right now, I don’t think his ultimate focus is on playing tennis and getting to the top of the rankings or winning Grand Slams,” Fiotakis stated. “So that’s why I too can’t travel for seven months straight, with only 25 days at home when the goals are not high and I’m traveling just to travel.”

Fiotakis, who has worked with many professional athletes, now wishes to distribute his “energy to different people” in his daily life. Tsitsipas’ attitude and commitment have been questioned multiple times before, and this latest development adds another layer of concern as he prepares for the upcoming Wimbledon tournament.
