Taylor Swift pauses Eras Tour performance at Anfield due to crowd reaction
Taylor Swift was visibly overwhelmed by the electric atmosphere at Anfield on Friday, pausing her Eras Tour performance to take in the adoration from the Liverpool audience.
The international pop icon, who performed at the famous football stadium for the second of three nights, expressed her gratitude to the fans. Despite being a global superstar, Taylor, 34, showed her down-to-earth side.
She praised the Liverpool crowd for leaving a “stunning impression” on her and even stopped the concert at one point. Following a captivating performance of Champagne Problems, Taylor was so touched by the audience’s roaring applause that she removed her earpieces and ceased singing to absorb the moment.

After soaking in the cheers for several minutes, she exclaimed: “Wow. This is one of the most expressive, genuine, generous crowds I’ve ever been in front of.
“I’ve made so many best friends out here tonight. I am so lucky to get to play a show for people like you and to get to meet you. Thank you so, so much for that. I love you.”
It comes after Taylor admitted that she has been having “the most fun” in Liverpool. During her second show on Merseyside, she admitted that she was having the time of her life performing there. She told the crowd: “I also know that the reason it’s the most fun is because I’ve never played for such enthusiastic, generous crowds in my entire life.”
The city of Liverpool is hereby known as “Loverpool” according to Swifties.
Taylor Nation, the official account of all things Taylor Swift run by her team, shared a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, of Taylor performing You Need To Calm Down. “On this 5th anniversary of You Need To Calm Down, we hereby declare #LiverpoolTSTheErasTour ‘Loverpool! ‘Cause at #TSTheErasTour, we want you to be who you are, love who you want, and let us see your HANDS,” they captioned it.
The song has become an anthem for LGBTQ+ Swifties as it hits out against those hating against them. It includes the lyrics: “You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace/And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate/’Cause shade never made anybody less gay.”
