The Irish fairy woodland with pig walking experience, picnics and prosecco

TAKE a look at the Irish fairy woodland that’s not far from a busy city with a very unique experience for visitors.

The Burren Nature Sanctuary in Co. Galway is the perfect summer’s day out.

The sanctuary is located in Kinvara, just 40 minutes outside the bustling city of Galway.

It is a haven for plants, animals, and wildlife, and offers punters the chance to escape into nature for the day.

Owners of the stunning farmland called it “an ideal snapshot of Burren biodiversity.”

The 50 acre area is home to 25 acres of rewilding, as well as a 15 acre conservation managed, orchid rich, wildflower meadow, native woodland, a native botany collection and a unique protected wetland area.

But the biggest attraction are their unique walking experiences, which cost €99 but are well worth the price.

Visitors get the chance to take Emilia the pig for a walk around the farm’s stunning green woodland.

The adorable animal will be a trusty guide along the route, and will even take pictures with her walking companions.

The best part is, for an additional €50, walkers can book a picnic with a bottle of Prosecco to refresh themselves after the walk.

One delighted user gave her walking with Emilia experience a five star review.

She said: “We loved our fairy pig walk with Emilia and Mary!

“We could tell Emilia is a well cared for and happy, healthy pig.

“She led us through the fairy forest and was a great guide.

“It was one of the highlights of our Ireland trip and I will treasure the memories and photos for years to come.”

But Emilia isn’t the only gorgeous animal worth visiting at the Burren sanctuary.

The land is also home to Frank the Llama, Dolly the Alpaca, and goats Frisky, Hannah, Mocha and Chino.

And for lovers of history and all things ancient Ireland, the site is home to a ruined famine village.

As well as that, there is a cafe, shop, and indoor and outdoor playground for tots to explore.

The sanctuary also offers overnight accommodation in the form of log cabins, which can be booked on the company’s website.

Tickets to the farm for adults cost €12.50 and for those ages three and under are available for €10.

But a family pass for two adults and three children can be got for €48, while over 65’s only pay €7.

The park is open daily from 10am until 5pm.
