Eligible people in Tipperary encouraged to get Covid-19 booster

The HSE/South East Community Healthcare (SECH) is urging eligible people across counties Carlow, Kilkenny, south Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford to take advantage of the opportunity to receive their Covid-19 spring booster dose.

The HSE says the booster is essential to maintaining strong protection against severe illness and hospitalisation due to Covid-19, especially as immunity from previous doses or infections may diminish over time.

The spring booster dose campaign began on April 22, targeting specific high-risk groups to ensure they receive the necessary protection. Those eligible for the booster include:

 

  • Individuals aged 80 or older.

 

  • Those living in long-term care facilities for older adults.

 

  • Individuals aged 5 or older with weakened immune systems.

 

Additionally, people aged 70 to 79 can request the vaccine after consulting with a healthcare provider, such as a GP, pharmacist or at a vaccination centre.

The Covid-19 vaccine, including the booster dose, is provided free of charge.

Clinics will be held at the South Tipperary Vaccination Centre on the grounds of St Luke’s Hospital, Clonmel, E91 PR83 from 11am to 3pm next Friday, June 21 and the following Friday, June 28.
