First-time New Ross Sinn Féin candidate reflective after loss
Having gotten a respectable vote of 799 first preferences, first-time Sinn Féin candidate, Kayley Goodison was excluded on the fifth count.
In a packed field, the Wexford town woman – who lives in New Ross – put in a hard fought campaign, canvassing for months and attending numerous events locally, but it was not to be.
In a statement, she said: “I did not make it onto the council for the New Ross District. I was knocked out of the race with 947 votes, votes for which I am more than grateful for.
“I would like to thank every single person who put their trust in me and who voted for me. The passion of the rebels of 1798 still lingers in New Ross. I could not have got through this campaign without my dedicated team. I want to thank each and every one of them for getting me through this journey. I gained life-long friendships and that was a real victory for me.”
