‘Disgusting’ Galway scenes as raw sewage overflows at historic location

People in Galway City woke up to disgusting scenes after sewage was seen pouring into a historic location.

Locals in the Claddagh were horrified to find human waste pumping into the surrounding waters, this morning. It was seen pouring out of the channel by the Lough Gate beside the Claddagh basin.




One horrified Galwegian came across the scene and let his feelings be known on the popular Facebook group, Galway Faces and Places.

“Out and about this is the raw sewage coming out of the channel by the lough gate beside The Claddagh basin 24/7 what is it doing to Galway Bay?” the concerned local posted.

This is a potential health hazard for people and has caused children to become incredibly sick, one mother revealed.

“My little girl ended up in hospital for a week with E. coli and cryptosporidium, after playing by the water in Salthill. She also missed 5 weeks from school as she was so sick. Never again. It’s beyond disgusting,” the child’s mother said.
