Rice basketball adds guard PJ Carter, a transfer from AAC rival UTSA
The Rice men’s basketball team announced the addition of guard PJ Carter, a transfer from UTSA.
The 6-foot-5 Carter was third on the Roadrunners last season with 9.5 points per game and shot a team-best 40.3% from 3-point range, good for sixth in the American Athletic Conference. He reached double figures 14 times, with a season-high 27 points March 10 against Temple.
“PJ is highly skilled and brings with him a tremendous skill set,” Rice coach Rob Lanier said. “He is a strong ball-handler and an elite-level shooter. His familiarity with the (AAC) and his overall experience gives our team a veteran presence. We are very excited about the significant impact PJ can add to our program.”
Prior to his season at UTSA, Carter, an Atlanta-area native, played one season at Georgia Highlands College and two years at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
