Damien Hirst seen for the first time since welcoming his newborn son
Damien Hirst and his fiancée Sophie Cannell were seen for the first time out and about with their newborn baby on Monday.
The couple appeared to be joined by friends as they enjoyed an afternoon at their favourite restaurant Scott’s in Mayfair.
The British artist, 58, and the ballerina, 30, announced the arrival of their first son together last month.
It is Damien’s fourth son as he already shares three boys aged 28, 23 and 18 with his former partner Maia Norman.
The baby, whose name has yet to be announced, was seen being pushed in a diamond encrusted pram designed by Damien himself and said to be worth £50,000.
The eye-catching stroller was adorned in multi-coloured butterflies as they parked it next to the table.
Sophie was seen cradling the newborn in her arms after becoming a mother for the first time last month.
The new mother kept it casual in a baggy grey T-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and trainers as she cradled her son.
Meanwhile Damien kept it simple in a black T-shirt and jacket as he enjoyed the family outing.
He completed the look with some sunglasses and was seen with a napkin over his head to protect himself from the sun.
The couple were also joined by their dog who they were previously seen pushing around London in a pram ahead of their son’s birth.
Last month Damien took to Instagram to announce the birth as he shared a picture of himself holding the baby while a snooker match played on a phone beside him.
He also posted a snap of Sophie cuddling the baby while they both appeared to sleep.
‘Trying not to let the arrival of this beautiful baby boy interfere with the snooker,’ Damien joked.
Sharing another picture of their son on Instagram, Sophie said: ‘Welcome to the World OUR BOY.’
Sophie revealed her pregnancy in November in an Instagram post where she bared her bump to the world as she lounged by an indoor pool.
She confirmed the gender of the baby with a caption: ‘He’s a water boy’ and Damien shared NFT artwork of pregnancy emojis he created in support.
To celebrate her pregnancy and Sophie’s 30th birthday in February, Damien picked up an extraordinary cake which characterised his shocking art style.
The huge cake was in the shape of Sophie’s womb and was complete with a very lifelike baby curled up inside.
It appeared to have been inspired by his series of giant bronze sculptures showing the development of the foetus in the womb, called The Miraculous Journey.
Damien and Sophie have been together since 2018.
They were rumoured to be engaged in 2021 when Sophie snapped a huge diamond on her ring finger but neither have confirmed this to date.
When the couple’s romance first came to light, a friend close to the duo told Richard Eden at the Mail On Sunday that Damien is ‘besotted’ with Sophie.
It was previously reported that Damien met the dancer at the swanky Chiltern Firehouse, where she used to work as a waitress.
He also paid tribute to her in 2022 by creating a Medusa sculpture modelled on her body as part of four pieces for the London restaurant Bacchanalia.
While the couple have been together for four years, Damien has three sons with his previous long-term girlfriend Maia Norman.
The former couple are parents to Connor Ojala, 28, Cassius Atticus, 23, and Cyrus Joe, 18.
Although he never married Maia, he referred to her as his ‘common-law wife’.
