The Big Tech Show

How can we deal with no-shows in healthcare? Does it impact patient wait times? And can AI receptionists improve attendance?

On The Big Tech Show this week, Adrian is joined by Spryt, chief operations officer and co-founder, Neill Dunwoody.

Spryt is an AI receptionist which enables patients to book, change and pay for appointments via instant message (WhatsApp/SMS) and predicts no-shows. It recently won the Pitchfest at the world’s biggest health conference HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) in Rome.

No-shows our one of the biggest issues burdening the healthcare system in Ireland. In 2023, Ireland saw over 500,000 no-shows for outpatient appointments. Neill says it’s not just the impact of the no-show but patients who could have taken that slot. Furthermore, non-attendance creates longer wait times so that those in need can’t see a healthcare professional quickly.
