Investigation launched after ‘petrol bomb arson attack’ in Limerick estate

A petrol bomb was allegedly thrown at a property on the north side of Limerick city in a daylight attack. Gardai have launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred in a housing estate in Limerick.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of a fire at the property in Ballynanty on Monday afternoon at around 4pm, the Irish Mirror reports. Footage shows thick plumes of heavy black smoke billowing out of the bottom floor window of the property as flames engulf the window. In another video, members of the fire service can be seen extinguishing the blaze.

No one was present at the property at the time of the fire. Authorities preserved the scene for a technical examination and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
