Sile Seoige feels lucky as she moves into forever home after ‘difficult’ journey
SILE Seoige recently moved into a new home in her childhood village of Spiddal, she spoke exclusively to The Irish Sun about the move.
The popular presenter uprooted her family, and moved back to Connemara in the summer of 2022 after having lived in Dublin for almost 25 years.
Sile is married to her husband Damien and they have two kids Cliodhna and Cathal.
The plot of land they built their house on was purchased six years previous, in 2018.
The family-of-four finally got to move into their new home at the start of June, after the building process that went over time and over budget.
She told The Irish Sun: “We are in the process of getting settled. It’s not going to happen overnight, but we are getting there.
“It’s been quite an overused term, but it’s been a journey. It hasn’t been easy, we all know how difficult it is to buy a house in Ireland nowadays. We just feel so lucky to be at this point.
“There’s lots of stuff in boxes and we are trying to organise ourselves and figure things out, but everyone who’s fortunate enough to be in this position says, you need to live in a house to kind of know what it needs.”
Sile revealed the reasons she moved back to Connemara as she finds it important to balance her career and family.
She said: “I’m in my mid forties and I’ve just moved into my ‘forever’ home. The prospect for a lot of people is pretty grim, so I don’t take it for granted in any way whatsoever.

“As life happens priorities change and certainly becoming a mother is a huge condition. Anyone who has kids will say it absolutely changes your perspective on so many things.
“And it’s when I realised, you know, I’m from a really lovely place, with a gorgeous community in the west of Ireland.”
The host’s new home is already becoming a place of great importance for her and her family.
Speaking about her favourite memory living there so far, she said: “On the second night, as the evening sun was filling in through the glass, it was just lovely.
“It was that stunning amber light you sometimes get out the west and that sunset can just be magic.
“I was just like, ‘Wow, look how lucky we are’. The light was filling in over the kitchen and I guess if I had to choose one favourite spot it would be there so far.”
GETTING REAL
Sile also spoke about her podcast, Ready to Be Real with Sile Seoige, and a dream guest for the new season.
She said: “The podcast came around after many previous years saying I wanted to start one and in 2019 I just bit the bullet.
“There’s one guest, who had been at the top of the list for me to interview for a while, and I’m really looking forward to that one.
“I don’t want to jinx it so I’m not going to reveal just who it is yet, but they are quite a big get for me.
“But generally the name, Ready To Be Real, it attracts guests who are just willing to do that, I’m not here to put on an act or pretend like I’m something I’m not and I’m saying that for myself as much as my guests.”
TV GOALS
Sile began a glittering TV career fresh out of secondary school, as she fronted the TnaG show, Hollywood Anocht, where she interviewed the likes of Meryl Streep and Bruce Willis.
She explained what her TV career is like now: “It’s not a case of that I don’t do TV, I’m just not doing the type of television projects I might have done years ago.
“People change and people move. It’s not that I don’t want to do TV anymore, I’m just more selective in what I do now.
“So what I now want to do in my mid forties is not what I necessarily would have done in my twenties, I feel like I’ve changed and learned a lot by now.”
Sile is the returning host of Rise Up with ALDI bread baking competition, which holds its finals during the national ploughing competition.
