Irish father-of-two dies suddenly in Australia

A whopping €70,000 has been raised for the family of an Irishman who died suddenly in Australia recently.

Father-of-two Ciaran Carragher who was in his late thirties from Croghan, Castleblayney died suddenly on Saturday, June 15.




Paying tribute to their former player, Cremartin GFC have organised a GoFundMe page to support the family of Mr Carragher as they prepare to travel to Australia for his funeral.

Just under €62,000 has been raised so far with communities from across Co Monaghan and further afield offering their support and condolences to the Carragher family at this time.

In a statement posted online, Cremartin Shamrocks GAA stated; “Our former player, Ciaran Carragher died in Perth, Australia on Saturday 15, June 2024. As a club and community we offer our thoughts, prayers and support to Ciaran’s entire family here in Ireland and in Australia. As a practical expression of this, following requests from several people in our community this GoFundMe page is set up to support the family as they prepare to travel to Australia to celebrate Ciaran’s funeral.”

Monaghan GAA also paid tribute stating: “Monaghan GAA extends sincerest condolences to the Carragher Family and Cremartin Shamrocks GAA at this very sad and difficult time. At times like this the extended GAA community rallies together and we urge all Gaels to donate whatever you can to support and assist the Carragher Family.”
