Body of woman found in Tipperary home as Gardaí launch investigation

Gardaí have launched a full investigation after the body of a woman was found in a home in Co Tipperary on Tuesday.

Gardaí were called to the scene after the remains were discovered at a residence in Newport town on Tuesday evening.




The exact identity of the woman is as yet unknown, though it is believed to be a woman in her 40s. She has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick, CorkBeo reports.

A post-mortem examination will take place later on Wednesday. The results of this will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman at a residence in Newport, County Tipperary. The woman (40s) was discovered deceased at a residence in Newport on Tuesday evening, 18th June 2024.

“A post-mortem is expected to take place later today at University Hospital Limerick; the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation. The Coroner has been notified. Investigations are ongoing.”
