Mullahoran man Adrian (Aidie) Sheridan was fatally injured in an incident as construction work was being carried out on a house not far from his home in Kilcogy on Tuesday evening.

Sheridan, a father to four young boys, was rushed to hospital but passed away from his injuries on Wednesday morning.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed it has been made “aware of the incident” with an investigation now underway.

In a Facebook post, Mullahoran Dreadnoughts paid tribute to the clubman, writing: “Mullahoran GFC would like to send our deepest condolences to Gemma and Sheridan Family (Kilcogy) on the passing of Aidie Sheridan.

“Aidie was a great supporter and member of Mullahoran GFC over the years both as a player and as a sponsor of the club. Two of Aidie’s four sons currently play with our U8 team, which he helped coach.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

The Kilcogy and wider Mullahoran community have echoed the club’s tribute online and continue to extend their condolences to Mr Sheridan’s grieving family.

One friend wrote: “Such devastating news. Condolences to Gemma, Ollie, Jake, Danny, Joey and all of the Sheridan family. Aidie was a great character and someone you’d want to be around. He loved coaching the U8s and we always talked about the great future ahead for the kids. Rest easy Bulger, you will be missed.”

Another said: “Our sincere condolences to Gemma, kids and all the Sheridan family. Wishing you peace and strength in this time of sorrow. A tower of strength, thoughtfulness, courage and commitment to helping others has been taken from us so suddenly.

“His zest for life, work, family and fun gives us the willingness to continue the pathway he has built. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you always.”

A third person added: “Sincere sympathy Gemma and your beautiful boys, Pat and Carmel, Paul, Tracey, Claire, Tricia, Sarah and Mary and extended family on the tragic passing of Adie. He will be sorely missed. A pleasure to have known him, a gentleman. Adie may you rest in peace”.

And another penned: “Heartfelt sympathy to Gemma, your boys, Pat, Carmel and all the family on your devastating loss. A pillar of the community and an absolute gentleman. He’ll truly be missed. You’re all in our thoughts and prayers and may God comfort you all at this heart-breaking time. RIP Aidie.”
