Le’Veon Bell Shades Steelers’ Justin Fields After Video of QB Throwing with Trainer

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell apparently doesn’t think highly of current Steelers backup quarterback Justin Fields’ throwing power.

Fields was seen throwing passes to James Everett Jr. (a.k.a. Route God), a trainer who has worked with numerous NFL players.

The Route God took to social media to defend Fields against Bell’s criticism:

Fields is in Pittsburgh after the Steelers traded a 2025 sixth-round pick (which will turn into a fourth-rounder if he plays at least 51 percent of the team’s offensive snaps this season) to the Chicago Bears.

Fields joined the Bears as the team’s potential franchise quarterback in 2021 after the team used the 11th overall pick on him following a trade up with the New York Giants from No. 20.

However, an up-and-down tenure after three years ended this offseason when the Bears went a different direction and eventually used the No. 1 overall pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Fields looks to be the backup behind veteran Russell Wilson, the nine-time Pro Bowler who arrived as a free agent in Pittsburgh after the Denver Broncos parted ways with him. It’s certainly possible he could compete and get the starting gig down the road, but right now, he’s an impending free agent looking for a shot to prove himself at his second NFL stop.

Perhaps his offseason workout isn’t impressing a former Steelers star, but the NFL season is still a long way off as Fields gets ready for the 2024 campaign.
