Man charged with murder of Michael Ryan, 51, in Finglas

A man has appeared in Dublin District Court charged with the murder of 51-year-old Michael Ryan in Finglas on Thursday 20 June.

Joseph Lawlor, 38, with an address at Hampton Road in Finglas, Dublin 11, was brought to the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Garda Shane Gallagher of Finglas Garda Station gave evidence of arresting the accused at Finglas yesterday afternoon.

He said Joseph Lawlor made no reply after he was charged and cautioned.

Judge John Hughes granted legal aid after he heard the accused is not working.

Mr Lawlor was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court at 10.30 on Friday 28 June.

Mr Ryan – a father-of-two from Carton Road in Poppintree near Ballymun – was found injured at around 12.30am on Hampton Wood Way, St Margaret’s Road on Thursday.

He was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
