How to Beat Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Besides all the Elden Ring DLC bosses, there exist a ton of optional foes that can make you cry tears of hatred. One such Elden Ring boss is the Putrescent Knight, a foul-smelling hard-as-nails foe. Not only is tracking this boy hard but defeating him even harder. So if you’re someone stuck on this boss keep reading as we show you how to beat the Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Putrescent Knight Location in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The Elden Ring Putrescent Knight will be found in the Stone Coffin Fissure. Before you move to this place, you must reach Shadow Keep to get the message “Somewhere, a Great Rune has broken.” Otherwise, you won’t get to access Stone Coffin Fissure.
Once done, reach out to Ellac River after getting this message. From Ellac River Cave Site of Grace, come outside and use your torrent to ride left. You’ll see some standing rocks, on which you need to parkour with your horse. Doing so will bring you to Ellac River Downstream, where you reach the Cerulean Coast. The path’s very straightforward.
At Cerulean Coast, collect the map fragment south of where you encounter the flying dragon. Keep heading southwest, through a jungle where you’ll see a giant throwing pots full of sleeping concoction.
Ignore the giant and keep riding Southwest till you arrive at a ruin. Go over the ruin to reach another blue field, where you’ll find a fissure. Use your horse to jump into the void to enter the Stone Coffin Fissure. You’ll find the boss at the end of this legacy dungeon.
Putrescent Knight Weaknesses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The Putrescent Knight might look intimidating when you first look at him in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. I won’t lie; he reminded me of Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne for a few seconds. However, unlike Kos, Putrescent Knight comes with two significant weaknesses. These are:
- Weak to bleed: One of the most significant weaknesses of the Putrescent Knight has to be his weakness to bleeding. Hence, if you are running a bleed build with dexterity and arcane, you’ll benefit most from it. Both blades will lead to faster blood build-up, especially if it is one of Elden Ring Katanas.
- Weak to physical damage: The Elden Ring Putrescent Knight is also weak to raw physical damage. So, if you have something like a Bloodhound’s Fang or two greatswords, that will break its poise quicker.
Outside of this, Putrescent Knight is very formidable in its way. You must be patient as much as possible while dealing with this Elden Ring boss. Otherwise, you’ll often die to Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
How To Defeat Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Now that we know its weaknesses, it is time to deal with Putrescent Knight. While Putrescent Knight comes with several gimmicks in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, he is still comparatively easier to fight if you are patient. Let’s look at things to keep in mind while dealing with him.
- Call your Spirit Ash: Trust me when I say this boss has been made with Spirit Ash’s support in mind. While you can deal with this boss alone, having a Spirit Ash makes things easier. Hence, when fighting Putrescent Knight, bring out your Spirit Ash if you feel overwhelmed.
- Use a mix of Ice Resistance and Damage Negation Crystal Tear: Putrescent Knight performs physical and Frostbite damage on Elden Ring players. Hence, make a Wondrous Physick out of Ice Resistance and Damage Negation.
- Keep an eye on its Horse: When Putrescent Knight pressures you, its horse will randomly appear and ram you from various spawn points. We can do nothing here except keep vigil and roll out when needed.
- Mind the rolls: Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring has a move where he jumps off his horse toward you while spinning his blades. The best way to dodge it is to roll towards him.
- Care of the Ice Flames: Sometimes, the Putrescent Knight will rise quite a height and start shooting ice flames. Getting hit by the fire while they spread on the ground will cause Frostbite damage. Hence, jump when the flame starts spreading on the ground.
- Boomerang Blades: Putrescent Knight will sometimes throw its blades like a boomerang. The best thing to do is to keep an eye on that and dodge the blade. From my experience, rolling toward the incoming blade has IFrames. Hence, do that. If you are adventurous, try to parry the blade.
Provided you follow the tips above, you’ll be able to easily defeat the Putrescent Knight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Remember, the key thing to watch out for is this Elden Ring boss’ horse.
Putrescent Knight Boss Fight Rewards
Successfully beating the Elden Ring Putrescent Knight will reward you with the Remembrance of the Putrescence. Like most bosses, you have to go to Enia to exchange this item and get rewards rewards. The first of the two rewards you can get is The Putrescence Cleaver. This Elden Ring weapon deals 141 physical damage and requires 28 Strength, 10 Dexterity, and 15 Arcane.
Alternatively, you can get the Vortex of Putresence, which allows you to shoot the same ghost flame Putrescent Knight sometimes shoots. Additionally, you’ll win 220,000 runes for leveling purposes after defeating this boss. You can use these runes to get the best Elden Ring Erdtree weapons.
