Former Blues boss Wayne Rooney reveals how son drove £3,000 golf kart into lake

Wayne Rooney has shared a rather pricey mishap involving one of his sons and a £3,000 golf cart taking an unexpected plunge into a lake at their family estate.

The former Birmingham City boss moved into a plush six-bedroom pad in December 2021, which boasts two man-made fishing lakes within its sprawling 40-acre grounds.




Rooney, who had the lakes installed, also treated his brood to a golf cart for easy movement around the vast property. However, during a chat with Gary Neville on The Overlap, he disclosed that the vehicle met a watery end thanks to one of his lads.

Filming at Rooney’s abode, Neville quizzed: “Do you go swimming in that lake? ” Rooney’s response was a cautionary tale: “I wouldn’t. We’ve had a golf buggy go in it. The day I’ve gone to America as manager.”

He elaborated on the aquatic adventure, saying: “I went to the airport and one of the kids, straight in.”, reports the Mirror.

Rooney’s stint in the States saw him at the helm of MLS team D. C. United from July 2022, returning after a previous spell as a player.
