30 caravans surround city park’s basketball court with camp yards from school
Up to 30 caravans and vehicles are occupying a city park just yards from a primary school. Travellers have set up their temporary camp surrounding the green’s basketball court, which is regularly used for local children to play.
The large group were located at Parkdale Park, just off Longbridge Lane, in West Heath, yesterday, Friday, June 21. The park is located right next to Albert Bradbeer Primary School.
Some residents said they were surprised to see such a large group take to the field. A city council spokesperson told BirminghamLive there were alternative sites for travellers in the city.
