Niall Boylan returns to radio and blasts haters following European Elections

Shock jock Niall Boylan says it is his “constitutional right” to “earn a living” after blasting haters who say he shouldn’t be allowed to return to his radio show.

The DJ is returning to his Classic Hits radio show, Nighttime Talks, on Monday night after leaving the station in April to run in the European Elections. The host said his run for Europe was “an experience of a lifetime”, but he fell short of the votes, after ending up with 50,416 votes in total.

Captioning a video on social media announcing his return to radio, Niall said it was his “constitutional right” to “earn a living” after some blasted that he shouldn’t be allowed return to the airwaves. He said: “I have a very important update. There has been a few suggestions that I should not be allowed back on radio because I ran for election.

Boylan was previously warned by the media regulator that he couldn’t continue to present his show during the election campaign. Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM) said at the time that it had “contacted Classic Hits FM to reiterate our view regarding persons involved with election interests presenting programmes during the election campaign period”.

It said it was “not appropriate” for candidates to present programmes during an election campaign.
