ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League 2024: A Premier Event in Indian Basketball

Bhavnagar, Gujarat: The Youngster Basketball Club is all set to host the fourth season of the ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League, starting on June 30, 2024, and continuing with matches from July 1-2 and July 24-28.

This highly anticipated event aims to elevate Bhavnagar’s standing in Indian basketball and contribute to the selection of players for the Olympics.

Highlighting the league’s significance, Shaktisinh Gohil, Chairman of the Indian Basketball Team Selection Committee, shared that Bhavnagar is making a mark on the national basketball map. Impressively, 54 players from the U-14 to Senior categories have been selected for the Gujarat state team this year. Additionally, five players have been invited to the Indian team camp, with two already securing spots on the national team.

The league has attracted a whopping 1,350 online registrations. From these, 128 boys and 128 girls across the U-14, U-16, U-18, and Senior (U-25) categories have been chosen to compete. These 256 selected players are undergoing intensive training sessions under the guidance of eight captains/coaches, with practices scheduled from 5 AM to 9 PM and 5:30 PM to 9 PM.

A total of 512 matches will be played at the Sidsar Sports Complex, ensuring an action-packed tournament. To officially announce the competition, a press conference was held at the ISCON Club on Sunday.

The Bhavnagar Basketball Association has been pivotal in nurturing talent over the past three years, producing numerous skilled players through this league. There is palpable excitement and enthusiasm among the players, promising an exhilarating season of basketball.
