Many nations are now offering visa-free entry in a bid to enhance their tourism while attracting more visitors. As many as 62 countries are offering visa-free arrival to Indians after it secured the 80th position in the latest Henley Passport Index.

The latest countries to have extended their visas to Indian visitors are Thailand and Sri Lanka. Thailand’s extension is in effect until 11 November, 2024, while Sri Lanka’s lasts until 31 May, 2024. Tourism makes up 20 per cent of Thailand’s total jobs while making up about 12 per cent of the nation’s $500 billion economy.
