Giron edges past Cerundolo to make second round

American Marcos Giron moved into the second round of the Eastbourne Open by winning against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 5 seed, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club.

Giron, ranked No 46, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Liam Broady and Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka next.
