A major search operation is underway in Mount Brandon in West Kerry following reports of a missing walker.

The man, who is understood to be Polish, has been missing for two days and his car has been located close to Mount Brandon this Tuesday afternoon, The Kerryman understands.

The man went hiking in the Dingle area on Sunday, June 23 and has not been seen since. He was reported as missing by a friend.

Information on the man has been circulated amongst hiking groups and on social media in a bid to help locate the missing walker.

He is described as being fit and in his late 40 approximately 5ft 4 inches in height.

Members of Kerry Mountain Rescue and Dingle Coast and Cliff Rescue along with Coastguard helicopter are involved in today’s search and are currently at Mount Brandon.
