Cork ‘Swiftie’ gearing up for ‘the best day’ of her life after getting dream ticket

A CORK Taylor Swift superfan is gearing up for “the best day” of her life this weekend at the Aviva Stadium.

While Amelia Bruton, 12, ranks among the global top 2% of Taylor Swift listeners on Spotify, acquiring tickets for the Irish leg of the pop star’s tour was proving near-impossible until late last week.

Amelia’s mum, Natalie Bruton, embarked on a public campaign calling on people to help her source two tickets to the Eras Tour series in Dublin, with a Cork man coming to the Brutons’ rescue.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, suffered from cardiac complications last year and was concerned about the length of the three-and-a-half-hour show, and how this could potentially impact his health.

After hearing about Amelia’s plight, he graciously passed on his two premium tickets at face value (€350) to the family, who had publicly said they were open to spending up to €2,000 to get them.

Speaking to The Echo ahead of Sunday’s show, Natalie said her daughter is “over the moon” at the news, and is looking forward to experiencing Taylor Swift’s last Eras Tour show in Ireland.

Hysterical

“She was hysterical when she found out,” said Natalie.

“In the last six days, she has made 23 friendship bracelets and she’s picked out her Reputation Era outfit.

“I can’t wait to see her face when Taylor comes out for the first time, and to sing our favourite songs together. We’ll be screaming. It’s really nice to have those moments.

“There’s so many people trying to get tickets, and this is why I wanted to get out ahead of it because I knew this would happen.

“We’re just so lucky. We can’t express how grateful we are.”

Following the year-long journey of hoping for tickets to come her way, Amelia said she is looking forward to handing out the many friendship bracelets she’s fashioned, and getting to live the full Taylor Swift concert experience.

“I honestly felt like it was a dream. It’s definitely going to be the best day of my life,” she said.

“I never thought I’d get to see Taylor Swift, I’m so excited for it all.”
