Pair arrive outside Aviva to listen to Taylor after falling victim to scam
A mother and daughter have camped themselves outside the Aviva Stadium to listen to Taylor Swift tonight – after they fell victim to online ticket scammers.
May and Bethany, originally from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia but now living in Cork, missed out on tickets when they first went on sale – but daughter Bethany thought she’d hit the jackpot when she found some available on Facebook. However, after sending over the money from Revolut, the scammers stopped responding, and Bethany never got their tickets.
“We went on Facebook, and we got scammed out of €300,” Bethany said. “It seemed very legit at first actually, but we just got cheated in the end.

“It’s very unfortunate.” Bethany says she communicated with her scammer over the course of a week.
“I felt sad for her,” May said. “She’s been looking forward, we’ve been planning this for months.
“But when the Ticketmaster opened, we couldn’t get in the queue. Finally, she said she managed to get something online, and I was a bit skeptical.
“But it seemed really genuine, and we went with it… but unfortunately, it was a fake.” But the pair still made the trip up the Dublin 4 to join the crowds, at least outside, and hear the concert in person.
“I’m very curious about what surprise songs she will play,” Bethany said. “Every show is a surprise!”
