Two men arrested after firearms and drugs seized in south Dublin

Two men have been arrested after gardai seized firearms and more than €40,000 worth of drugs in south Dublin.

Gardai said two firearms and 2 kgs of suspected cannabis herb and jellies were discovered during the raid of a home in Ballinteer, Dublin 16.

The two men arrested, both aged in their 30s, are being questioned at garda stations in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

“Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) conducted an intelligence-led search operation under warrant,” a spokesperson said.

“During the course of the search, two firearms and 23 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition were seized, along with 2 kgs of suspected cannabis herb, and a small quantity of cannabis jellies, with an estimated total value of €41,900.”

Gardai said the firearms were made safe and the seized items will now sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for further analysis.

The drugs seized are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI), gardai added.
