IFTA 2024: Red carpet fashion and behind-the-scenes beauty

Celebrating a wealth of Irish talent, the 2024 Irish Film and Television Awards enjoyed a star-studded red carpet, with appearances from Cillian Murphy, Sharon Horgan, Lily Gladstone, Kerry Condon, Danielle Galligan and more.

Hosted by Baz Ashmawy, the ceremony is set to take place at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre tonight, with RTÉ crime drama KIN and the psychological thriller Lies We Tell leading this year’s nominations.

Dressed by style consultant Rose Forde, Oscar winner Cillian Murphy looked exceptionally stylish in a suit from Maison Margiela, while Killers of The Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone dazzled in an off-the-shoulder black gown.

Elsewhere on the red carpet, award-winning actress Bronagh Gallagher was snapped wearing a stunning mini dress that was a collaboration between Bronagh and Irish designer Cyane Kingston, which she paired with some impressive Gucci heels.

As for Mo Chara, DJ Provai and Moglai Bap, the Kneecap trio told RTÉ Lifestyle that their outfits were “bought at the Ballymun car boot sale last Sunday”.

Caitriona Balfe

Irish hair stylists Dylan Bradshaw and Gareth Bromell were on hand to help many of the stars achieve their red carpet-ready looks.

Speaking about what inspired these gorgeous styles and how he created these looks, hair stylist Gareth Bromell said: “Cillian’s hair is a little longer now than when I styled him for the Oscars. The key for me is to create a great texture with a little volume.

“I used the Dyson Supersonic R pro hairdryer with the diffuser attachment this time, to add volume and lived in texture. Cool and undone looking! Think little 60s rock n roll! It really suits him.”

While he described Caitriona Balfe’s new cut as “short with heavy bangs and carved out layers”, he says Sharon Horgan’s hair “an effortless undone LA texture”.

Kerry Condon with Dylan Bradshaw

Irish hair stylist to the stars Dylan Bradshaw worked on the looks of Kerry Condon and Eve Hewson for the event.

Dylan worked to achieve a sexy lived-in look on Condon: “I went for a distressed bohemian look, loosely styled with a low ponytail using the Dyson Supersonic r with the diffuser attachment. I also used mousse for the choppy, beachy finish on her hair.”

As for actress Eve Hewson, he wanted to create a more polished look for the awards: “We decided to keep it simple with Eve and went for a classic blow dry. It was a minimalist timeless look.”
