Three potential targets for Nets in NBA free agency
A look at three offseason targets for the Nets once free agency begins:
Tyus Jones
Position: Point guard
Age: 28
With Ben Simmons’ health and Dennis Schroder having just one year left on his deal, the Nets need a playmaker they can rely on.
Jones is nothing if not reliable, averaging a dozen points and 7.3 assists last season for Washington.
A longtime backup in Memphis, Jones ready to run a team.
But coming off a two-year, $29 million deal, it would take a multi-year mid-level exception to get him — presuming he and the now-rebuilding Nets are even still a fit.
Trendon Watford
Position: Forward
Age: 23
Brooklyn tendered Watford a qualifying offer, sources told The Post.
That makes him a restricted free agent, and the Nets will be able to match any offer sheet for him.
His 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.6 minutes last season are modest figures.
But he stepped up over the final 11 games, posting 12.9 points and 5.7 boards, shooting 54.1 percent overall and 44.0 from deep while playing point forward.
Lonnie Walker IV
Position: Shooting guard
Age: 25
After trading away Mikal Bridges, the Nets are in desperate need of points.
Walker was a high-scoring steal early on last season but ended up heading in the opposite direction from Watford.
Despite a hamstring injury that cost him weeks, he averaged 11.4 points on 44.8 percent shooting — 42.5 from deep — through his first 43 appearances.
But over his final 15, he mustered just 5.1 points per game on 31.6 percent from the floor and 20.0 from 3.
Would the Nets give him another minimum, and would he take it?
